Bob Carlton- Three Poems

BIO: Bob Carlton (www.bobcarlton3.weebly.com) lives and works in Leander, TX.

"The flags are too wet to fly..."

The flags are too wet to fly,
the mist dragging the sky
low across the roof.
Pleasant thoughts that floated
along the breeze
are blown apart
by the wind.
The sinister glistening
of water on the verge
of ice coats the visible
world.

"A creeping nervousness..."

A creeping nervousness
begins to overtake me,

the sense of
a manatee lazily
drifting
too far out to sea,

a slow realization
of the possibility
of quick doom.

Archie Moore: Poetics

Boxing is syllables.
You
      got
to
         learn
              them
one
     by
        one.
